Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the San Francisco Police Effectiveness Review. The San Francisco Police Department, in partnership with the San Francisco Controller's Office, is undertaking a broad study to evaluate the effectiveness of the Department's pilot foot patrol program, analyze station boundaries, and conduct a comprehensive organizational assessment. This website is intended to keep San Franciscans informed about the progress of those efforts and to gather your feedback throughout the life of the project.

The San Francisco Police Department wants to be a leader in progressive and effective policing.

SFPD recognizes the need for a periodic independent review of its vision, structure, procedures, performance, and outcomes to ensure that it is meeting its responsibility to protect and serve San Francisco residents and visitors. The Department, in partnership with the Controller's Office, has engaged the Police Executive Research Forum and Public Safety Strategies Group, two of the nation's top experts in effective policing, to carry out this effort.

The Police Effectiveness Review will evaluate SFPD's systems, organization, and practices over a period of two years, positioning the Department to succeed in meeting the City's current and future public safety needs.

We look forward to your participation in this collaborative effort to strengthen the San Francisco Police Department and create a safe future for our City.
